Britannia Bay is blessed with the perfect setting of white rocks and a brilliant cobalt sea. Britannia Bay, consisting of ‘Old Britannia Bay’, Flagship, Golden Mile (Boulevard) and Shelley Point, form the centre of the St. Helena Bay area.
It is situated on a stunning peninsula, rightfully earning it the name ‘The Jewel of the West Coast’, which is due to its unsurpassed beauty.
The village takes its name from a British East Indiaman ship which was badly damaged by a reef in the bay. Visitors can enjoy long sandy beaches, pristine coastlines, natural beauty and a laid-back lifestyle.
The West Coast is famous for its glorious wild flowers, which appear in great abundance during spring. People come here to relax in the peace and quiet of a tranquil country village and experience its bustling fishing harbour.
Along the shores, you can catch crayfish, snoek, yellowtail, stumpnose and galjoen. This beautiful area is also home to a variety of whale and dolphin species.
