Wilderness is known for its long white sand beach and lagoons. The town caters mostly to holiday-makers and is situated directly on the Touw River Lagoon.
Wilderness is situated central to almost everything in the Garden Route. It is ten minutes’ drive from George and about twenty minutes away from the George airport.
The area has 12 major, nationally and internationally acclaimed golf courses: Fancourt, Simola, Pezula and Pinnacle Point to name but a few.
Wilderness is known for whale and dolphin sightings and a favorite destination for paragliding enthusiasts. You can go hiking in the Wilderness National Park or go canoeing on the Touw River.
There are a number of lakes in the area where you might want to parttake in various forms of watersport. The area is known for its variety of bird species, bird watching is a popular pastime.
You may wish to do any of the out door activities available in the area like ocean swimming, hiking, canoeing, paragliding and horse riding or choose to relax around the pool at your accommodation.
As Wilderness is situated in the hart of the Garden Route you can take a short drive and explore the towns of Knysna, Plettenberg Bay, George or Oudtshoorn.
