Calitzdorp is ideal as a base for your Klein Karoo adventures; take the magnificent Swartberg pass to the hamlet of Prince Albert for lunch and return via the fabulous Meiringspoort pass.
Visit ostrich show farms and the famous Cango Caves; or photograph the spectacular Redstone Hills. Mountain bikes are available in the village for hire by energetic guests, while a number of 4×4 routes and walking trails of varying distances and degrees of difficulty are to be found.
Calitzdorp is renowned as the Port Wine Capital of South Africa with several major wine estates famous for their award-winning products. A Port festival takes place in the town in mid-June each year.
