Soebatsfontein is a settlement 80 km south-west of Springbok and 48 km north-west of Kamieskroon. The name, Afrikaans for ‘begging or pleading fountain’, dates from an incident in 1898. Hendrik S(t)ievert, a farmhand, was murdered by San in spite of his begging (soebatten) for mercy.
Accommodation can be found at Kallabaskop, 6km away from the Skilpad National Namaqua Park. The Lodge offers a variety of attractions and activities.
The Namaqua flowers bloom Between August to September, and really is a breathtaking experience.
