Stay on for lunch and browse the many arts and crafts shops while the kids enjoy the playground facilities on offer. Ngwenya is also home to Gilroy’s Brewery, which offers entertaining tasting sessions of its award-winning brews. Be sure to book for this in advance, especially on weekends.
Also close by is Lesedi Cultural Village, a rich cultural experience that introduces visitors to the traditions and cultures of South Africa’s different ethnic groups. Guests are welcome to spend time in the village, take part in tours, watch demonstrations, enjoy a traditional African feast.
If you’re keen to soak up the outdoors and admire some African wildlife visit the famous Rhino and Lion Park, a 1,200-hectare reserve with more than 30 different animal species among them lion, rhino, leopard and buffalo. There are three restaurants on the property as well as picnic and braai areas and it is possible to join in other activities at the park such as a tour of the Wonder Cave.
