The Beaufort West Museum is walking distance from the Royal Lodge. The focal point of the Museum is the Chris Barnard Exhibition in the stately old building that was the original Town Hall , build in 1866. A very interesting presentation of an open heart operation, with the first heart-lung machine ever used in South Africa , can be seen .
