Rorke's Drift/Isandwalana, Battlefields, Kwazulu Natal

Situated in a private game reserve iSibindi Eco-Reserve, approximately 5km from the world-renowned battlefield of Rorke’s Drift, this luxury 12 bed lodge is a unique combination of luxurious accommodation, wildlife, and historical and cultural tours. Architecturally inspired by the traditional beehive shape, the beehive suites offer panoramic views of the game reserve and its diverse habitats ranging from montane grassland to riverine forests. All huts are ensuite with shower and bath and have overhead fans.

Guests are encouraged to explore the game reserve in morning and evening game drives or walks. The iSibindi Eco-Reserve also has a traditional village, which offers authentic tours where guests are given the opportunity of exploring traditional Zulu food and drink whilst enjoying an evening of energetic Zulu dancing.  A cultural tour to a nearby ancient Zulu homestead across the Buffalo River (which forms the border of the game reserve) allows guests to interact with Zulu people who have been largely unaffected by modern development. There are also Panoramic days tours which visit waterfalls, gorges, rock paintings and local crafts.

iSibindi Zulu Lodge offers guided tours of the Anglo-Zulu battlefields. Tours must be pre-booked so that arrangements can be made with our preferred guides to take the tours. The chilling accounts of the battles of Rorke's Drift and Isandlwana present a deeper insight of the rich history in the area. Presented alongside the military narrative, a complete picture of the impact of the Anglo-Zulu campaign on both the Zulu and British nations is formed.

Isibindi rates are fully inclusive of accommodation, meals, teas and coffees, one daily game activity and include a Zulu Boma dinner on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
