Lethabo means Joy or happy place in Tswana, the language of our area. Lethabo is private and exclusive, a day venue situated just 20 minutes from the City in a nature reserve in the Cradle of Humankind, a World Heritage Site near Lanseria.

We host business meetings, conferences, team building, functions and product launches, romantic private picnics and weddings. Starkly beautiful in Winter against the backdrop of the bleached veld and cool skies, voluptuously alluring in full leafy gown in Summer, Lethabo has a timeless elegance which is energized by the seasonal tumescence of the roaring Crocodile River on whose banks it resides. We share the habitat with a pair of Cape Clawless Otter who hunt crabs and fish trapped in pools in the river and leguans so big, we have mistaken them for logs strewn on the bridge. The sound of the river pummeling over the rapids, an abundance of resident birds and a seamless flow between interior and exterior, remind one of our connection to the wild.

The uniquely unconventional interior is a rich, eclectic tapestry of everything that is South African. It reflects the diversity of our unique culture. French polished walnut chests gleam graciously alongside central African fertility masks and hand painted Chinese porcelain. Stylish and elegantly rustic, the vaulted thatch cathedral roof and suspended levels from which musicians can be seen performing, blends an African ambiance with sophisticated period world treasures, each with its own story. The wonderful roaring open fireplace in the middle of the lofty structure is central to the African lifestyle.

All four elements, fire at its heart, earth, air and water resonate to create a relaxed, soothing, creative environment. Wraparound views of the embracing Magaliesberg, glittering light reflected off the water and the great African sky expand one’s spirit to aspire to great things. Families (baby facilities!) and elderly are very welcome at Lethabo.
